Süveydâ, 2023
co-created with Ozan Alp Hiçyılmaz (@zamliycih)

Inspired by the concept of Sufism of a black dot that is believed to exist in every human being’s heart, “Süveydâ” tells the story of an ever-shifting character in search of their meaning. A fall causes our character to face the disjointedness of the other human beings around them and together they clump into a collective Sisyphean rock rolling uphill, only to fall back again and to disintegrate.
The film is intended to be experienced in a cave, with visitors using handmade beeswax candles for a ritualistic and immersive viewing experience.

The Black Rock, 2022
scenario, editing, director
A short poetic documentary film focuses on a myth from a small seaside town on the Aegean Coast of Turkey.
Through interviews with people from the town, I went on a quest to find the location of a mythical black rock that eventually guided me through stories of migration and war.
Together with the inhabitants of the town, we discovered that this rock is not something to be found out there but is, instead, a shared feeling of belonging.
Taming of Enkidu, 2020
director
Based on Tablets I and II of the Epic of Gilgamesh, ‘Taming of Enkidu’ depicts the story of a wild creature in the forest being seduced by a prostitute into civilization. Set in a timeless, genderqueer space, the film invites the audience to experience the inebriated choice that Enkidu must make in the newfound realm of this strange encounter.
The film was shot in an Erasmus+ Exchange program in Detmold, Germany, and later selected to compete at the 2020 İzmir International Short Film Festival’s Experimental Film Category.
